Happy New Year!
This year again, it’s Haru-chan the Kendo Cat, continuing morning kendo practice.
Now that I’ve finished enjoying osechi dishes and ozoni and finally had a moment to catch my breath, I thought, “Alright—time to set my Kendo resolutions for 2026!”
So I picked up a piece of paper and a pencil.
I closed my eyes and thought… Hmm… what kind of resolutions should I make this year?
Back in 2024, I got a bit too greedy and listed about ten goals, and in the end, I failed to achieve almost all of them.

Hehehe… I may have piled on a little too much.
In 2025, I learned from that mistake and narrowed them down to five.
Because of that, although there were still some I didn’t reach, there were also goals I was able to accomplish.
So… what about this year?
What should I do this time?
Well, the very first thing that comes to mind is probably this…
No matter what—practice comes first!
🌸Resolution 1 Never skip practice (And on days when I absolutely can’t practice, I’ll do mitori keiko)
As I look back on last year, recalling all the realizations I had while writing my blog, and think about my resolutions for this year…
Somehow, everything seems to boil down to these two:
🌸Resolution 2 Never let my kamae break, no matter when or where
🌸Resolution 3 Direct everything I have built toward my opponent’s center and unleash it fully
So this year, I have fewer than five resolutions.
From experience, I’ve learned that the more goals I set, the lower my achievement rate becomes—so this year, I want to narrow my focus and truly commit.
That said… maybe all three of these are a bit too difficult.

I limited them to three,
but they’re so challenging that there’s a strong chance
I won’t achieve any of them!
Still—aim high!
Believe that where there is will, there is a way.
Step by step, steadily moving closer to my goals, I want to do my best again in 2026.
So, I will go to practice tomorrow again!
